I think that the title may be too light--not enough contrast with the background to read it. Unfortunately, I too know nothing about HTML. You may be able to solicit some help from Andrew at 4th Avenue Blues. I think you can email him from his blog. I've heard he's good at this sort of thing.

I don't know what the old layout looked like, but this is a "clean" look.
However I find this shade of blue a little frighting, it has "Expectant Mother" written all over it, especially with those cherries hanging out over there. Hey if that's you stlye that's cool.

It is, in fact, a cleaner look. I'm not sure if it's girly enough for you, being a girly girl and all, but it is a cleaner look. :)
